A state-by-state breakdown of the current status of electricity deregulation in the United States.

Cuurently, 16 states - Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Texas - plus the District of Columbia have deregulated electricity markets in some form. Seven other states - Arizona, Arkansas, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Virginia, and Wyoming - started electricity deregulation at some point but have since suspended deregulation.
